Words go here…

Meet Mlle. Solange Amelie, a 17″ Huret bisque head. Her name, Solange, means solemn and dignified, while Amelie means industrious and striving. Adelaide Huret had each doll painted slightly different to give them their own distinct persona.
She has painted eyes of watery blue, carefully molded lids, gently decorated lashes and brows, and a soft mouth Her neck is stationary on the shoulder plate. Her bisque is almost white and it has the characteristics of very early bisque.

Here is Mlle. Solange Amelia in an antique pique two piece outfit.

Inspiration for creating “new antique” dresses for an 19th Century French Fashion dolls can come from many places. Here, it is from a picture found on Pinterest, which is a great venue for saving pictures by category.

Here is an antique bed for lounging, which is reminiscent of the furniture that the Huret company created for its doll.

Her body is leather over wood on the upper arms and upper legs, with wood jointing at the shoulders, elbows, and knees. The torso is very sturdy leather as are her lower legs and stitched toes, and she retains her chest label from the Paris store, “Les Magazines de Enfants”.

Mlle. Solange Amelia shows off her underpinnings. The corset is one seen in a book with other items in a Huret trunk. The slip has a yolk that helps keep her waist from being bulky, and the hoop skirt underneath is crocheted for her. A copy of the crochet pattern will be posted.
